This newspaper was found under the original floor covering in one of my dad's rental properties. This side shows an article about an escaped patient from Overbrook and there's a headline on the opposite side about a patient uprise here in Pittsburgh at Mayview (no story though)



wow thats really interesting. Sad about the lil 6 yr old though and also the poor black cab driver :(

A Louisville Courier-Journal photo from 1961 of a patient undergoing ECT at Eastern State Hospital in Lexington, Ky. It was part of a story about the use of it & the success rates etc.

D C navel gun shop 1917 this place made some of the largest guns in world. I worked in a shop with equipment this large, the place was a death trap one false move or someone not paying attention and you may as well be hamburger

Not a historic building, but i was recently gifted a box of glass slides from a museum archive. Somewhat related to the mental health field are these two individuals: the first slide is Sir Francis Galton, amongst many other things a famous supporter of Eugenics. The second slide is of Karl Pearson, the protege of Sir Galton, also a strong supporter of the Eugenics movement in Europe.
