Constructed in 1915 Charleston's ornate Masonic Temple was constructed to replace the former 3 story Temple, built in 1895, after it was destroyed in a fire caused by lighting.    The building was designed by H. Rus Warne.   It is 5 stories in height and the top two floors are private and used by the Mason's, the bottom 3 floors are rented out with the idea that the revenue would support the building.    The building is currently owned by the WV Grand Lodge, Kanawha Lodge #20, Charleston Lodge #153, and the York Rite.   In the past the Shriners and the Scottish Rite also owned and used the building but they have since expanded and moved to their own respective buildings.   This building is currently slated for a extensive renovation that will take place over the next five years.

The exterior is off white terra cotta imported from Italy.
