I enjoy industrial settings myself. mainly because of the machinery and structure of the buildings

so what does everyone else enjoy to see?

I'm a big fan of hospitals personally. I didn't like Kirkbrides when i first started exploring but i've grown to absolutely adore them over time. The fact that the few remaining are around 150 years old really gives you an insight into a different era in mental healthcare. I love a good modern hospital as well though.

As far as industrial stuff i'll take a good power plant anytime.

To me it's the history behind them. Every single one has a different story, and the layout of each one varies so much. I love Kirkbrides just because of the architecture. Buildings that spectacular are not meant to be abandoned.

I really just liked danvers state and the Mass Asylums, I urbexed for as long as it was around, and after it was turned to condos and the asylums 1 by 1 came down, I slowly dropped off the map.  Nothing ever came as close as danvers did in keeping my attention.

to me it always seemed like, a bunch of shitty rotted buildings, and Mass Asylums

This is currently happening to my two favorite places, my lovely lovely gun factories

    Not this place?

And back on topic, I've always been a fan of oddities. Shit like boats and trains. Also a huge fan of both heights and depths. I'll climb just about anything, and crawl through some nasty ass spots with a smile on my face.

Can't say I have a favorite place.  Being a photographer since 93, I'll shoot anything abandoned or not.

I personally love large complexes preferably with several buildings and steam tunnels.  Locations like that around here aren't very common but they do exist.  My favorites around me consist of a Sanitarium (My Avatar is in the steam tunnels there), an Asylum (Which is now gone :(  ), a Pine Tree line Radar Base, and a US Air Force Base.  All within 200 miles of here.

My city has fuck all and has one of the worst per capita crime rates in Canada or the US.  The police here watch vacant buildings very closely and the city is known to demo buildings on the tax payers dime just to get rid of them.  I have explored a few place here but usually travel to explore.

I have never really been a fan of houses or plain boring empty commercial buildings.  They will only catch my attention if there is something unique or interesting about them.  One could spend the rest of their lives exploring abandoned farm houses in this province but most are pretty boring.

Hospitals are great, but i like industrial too because o how small oneself is compared to the buildings themselves.

    cool!
we still have half an abandoned kirk 6 hours north of me. its always a "well lets go and hopefully we'll find a way in", cuz the other half is completely in use. coffee shops, condos, dr offices, shops, etc. you could probably live there and never have to leave for anything from teh sound of it. theres even a high class italian resturaunt in the basement. the cool thing is they left everything the same! of course they abated and renovated, but from the stuff ive seen, it looks exactly the same inside and out as it did when it was open...almost like all they did was add bathrooms and replace drywall!

those are my pix from along time ago when i REALLY sucked.
http://www.thevillagetc.com/available_residential.html those are ads for the condos. looks like they added staircases so 2 patient rooms are the condo.....possibly 3.
if it werent a 6 hour drive, id go look at some.

edit: last time i was there, the abandoned part had spires that were still grey, the "in use" part's spires have been painted white and red.
they tore down the admin a long time ago, and replaced it with "building 50". it looks all 1970s style, and sucks lol

Lately the past decade or so its been ghost towns I have a deep love for mines even though they are dangerous its fun to explore miles of tunnels, see bats and experience the ghost of miners. The ghost towns and mines go hand in hand most of the time the mines are behind the town and in some cases right in town. I see quite a few places some are hard to get to ill take my truck high up in the mountains on cliffs get out of my truck and just explore the hell out of a place. Just a few days ago I visited some mines and ghost towns got away from all the coronavirus bullshit its about all I have right now!
