Had to share this with everyone. someone just told me about this. Might be old but i just laughed so hard I spit out my drink. This is an interesting thread to me in that I knew both RuPaul and Lady Bunny, during the period when they filmed this via Tom Rubnitz...we have been thru this before, my memories of the producer of this thing caking on makeup so as to hide his aids lesions so as to continue the endless sucking in the backrooms in the East Village of NYC. In fact my COMMENTS are, or were, on this video years ago, and people poohed them..but I only push the story for it's truth. God what a freak show blazing AIDS was back then. My mind is HARDENED to it, and I sound RUDE. But I miss so many people who ended up with those STRIPES, before drugs hid that from our view. I miss JOHN PALAMINO who was the queerest guy you could ever meet but who somehow was NICE. He was everything you could think of in stereotypical QUEER, limp wrist, high voice etc,,,,he obviously made MONEY from the looks I remember of his clothes and apartment, but he was DIFFERENT, in that...although full of fashion sense and that sort of queer thing...he was also not in his heart a hateful gay SNOB. I hated that sort of shit. I think John is in this vid too. Seriously,..I know that this vid has run on deggi many times, and I love it that it does. But I SWEAR I have never ever ever ever been able to watch it all the way thru. It's funny and I have seen the beginning many times. I love YOU: Deggi for loving it. But: I really have stopped it after a few seconds every time I have tried to watch it. I know that doesn't sound believable, but it's true. It just kills me. Everything was so exciting and also dangerous then. RuPaul lived upstairs from my best friend, and I did many media things with Lady Bunny (who's face shows in the thumbnail of this video). I was just a notch over 30 but I was thin and goodlooking. I was used boringly to escort many of these people to clubs. Famous as they were, they still had to leave cheap apartments in women's clothes and get to a club. And I was always a willing escort. Sometimes I went ON with them, but only if I could be in full costume, like a GHOST.

Sorry: i ran out of space before my computer complained wiggly. So here is a different vid to present. It's ridiculous now with the HAIR and whatnot. BUT: the ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA was the first concert I was allowed to go to. I tried in the months before to go to ALICE COOPER, but MUM wasn't having any of that...a man named alice in makeup. I love this song. DO YA. And I want you to NOTE how this is weirdly introduced by BEV BEVAN and then he turns it over to JEFF LYNNE, you see right THERE a leadership THING. When I saw them in 1978, I saw BEV BEVAN pretend to lose his BOW and it hit JEFF LYNNE. They fucking hated each other. You could see the snarls and hatred a mile away, but I was in about the 10th row. This odd video shows so completely the struggle between the two, no matter how much smiling and introducing is going on. Obviously Jeff Lynne WON in the long term and became a travelling Willsbury with former Beatle george. But can you SEE the hidden HATE in this: LOOK: |
