Remington, along with the Winchester company (see the CT-New Haven, Winchester Repeating Arms Company thread), were the top 2 armaments producers in the early 19th to late 20th century. Both companies had their main head quarters in CT. They both pre-date the Civil War and WW1 and have some of the original buildings still standing.
Remington was a major economic boost for the up and coming city of Bridgeport back in the mid 1800's. It was city blocks long and was still producing up until the late 80's/ early 90's. Most of the original plant is long gone or has been remodled into other factories when parts of Remington were being sold. GE purchased a large portion of the original plant and still owns them to this day, though they are slowly being gutted and taken down and are completely inaccessible

What is left consists of 2 city blocks worth of buildings. On one side near the train tracks are the power house and 4 or 5 four story buildings. On the other side is the main part of the plant with the Remington tower still intact and other buildings surrounding it. These buildings are similar to the ones across the street but are 5 stories tall and connect to one another. There is also the newer section of the facility in which Remington changed their name over to Remigrit, and some of the original buildings from the plant from WW1 are still standing and located around the Remigrit building.
Due to recent fires, though this place was a cake walk before, it's even more accessible because they had to remove the fence in order to access the fires.
This facility is right next to one of the more rough lets say, for lack of a better word, ghetto's so just be mindful. People also do sometimes live here, and do dealings in here, so be mindful of that. It's also a cut through to some of the local people as well, so there are usually always people walking around this place.
