Over the years I went to every spot my keys could get me into while mostly on lunch breaks. I made it to the sub tunnels, and into the attics.
God don't I wish I had a camera then. Midnight basketball in the gym, a make out session with my future ex wife in the steam tunnels, whiffle ball games on J-3 annex,  raiding the beer pub on I-2, getting baked on the job, fun times had by all.
I know a waste of tax payer money, it kept the crappy parts of the job from bothering us too much.  When you go to work you put on your armor, because you're gonna get hit, spit on, kicked, pissed on, have your mother and father insulted.  Do your job the best you could, and still go home with a black eye.  It's a thankless job certainly, but when you go home, you're supposed to slip off the armor, and leave it in a locker, like the night never happened.  yeah right.

Amen Ed. you gotta do what you can to stay sane on the job, no matter what it is.

Christmas time was always a special time at Danvers.  There was always a party raging somewhere in the hospital  with booze being shared.  It was a time honored tradition to wander from party to party, and share a snort with the other units.  On the Christmas eves I worked, I frequently went home in the morning with a hangover.  It was also a fun night.
